As part of the project-supported saffron production activities, Saffron Plant Cultivation Training was successfully completed in the saffron production area supported by the Development Foundation of Türkiye.
The training covered the key stages of saffron cultivation through both theoretical and practical sessions. Participants received information on saffron growing conditions, soil preparation, planting times and methods, maintenance practices, and proper harvesting techniques.
From Theory to Practice
As part of the practical component of the training, participants visited the saffron production area established with project support. They had the opportunity to observe the saffron growing area firsthand and explore the production process in the field.
During the field session, different stages of production, from soil preparation to planting saffron corms, were demonstrated. Correct and incorrect practices were compared, allowing participants to better understand the key points to consider throughout the production process.
Participants also had the opportunity to closely examine the differences between genuine saffron and lower-quality or adulterated saffron products. The training highlighted that being able to identify genuine saffron is an important step towards ensuring quality and reliable production.
At the end of the programme, participants who successfully completed the training received e-Government-approved certificates, along with various training materials.
The training aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical experience in saffron cultivation by combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on field applications.
